Foods That Build Muscle & Gain Weight

The foods sources that build muscle are not just proteins but a combination of all the food groups. Body Builders are constantly concerned with diet, what and how much to eat to build muscle or lose body fat.


There are certain basic nutrients which are necessary for the body to achieve maximum growth and energy production:

Protein
Carbohydrates
Fats
Vitamins
Minerals
Water

Anyone looking to build muscle and burn fat are unique in the demands they place on their bodies. Nutrition is a complex and ever expanding science and nutritionists are constantly giving us new information about what's good for you and what's not.


Proteins

Proteins are one of the best foods that build muscle. Protein is used by the body to build, repair, and maintain muscle tissue

Some good sources of proteins are as follows

Other meats
Nuts

Be sure to include at least one source of protein in each and every meal to help with the formation of new muscle. Muscle cant growth with out protein so get eating.

 


Carbohydrates

Carbs are a primary source of energy for our bodies and get stored in the muscles as glycogen which allows us to do heavy lifting. When the body stores glycogen muscle size is increased.

Carbs stop your body from using proteins as energy so the protein can be used for muscle building.

Some good sources of carbs are as follows

Potatoes
Pasta
Rice
Whole wheat bread
Beans
Bananas
Grapefruit

Like with the protein look to add one portion of carbs to each meal. If weight gain is your goal you may want to add two.
