Hard gainers often want to build muscle fast, but what they fail to do and realize is that the muscle building process actually takes a long time, especially if you are genetically skinny or have a fast metabolism.

You can speed up the muscle building process by following a sound training and nutrition program and sticking to them without fail.

If you would like an extra 10lbs or more in the next 12 weeks or so then this is an achievable target even if you thought muscle building was impossible.


Gaining muscle is not impossible but it is hard and takes dedication, devotion and consistency to achieve. Below i have outlined 5 simple tips which will help you train like a hard gainer and gain muscle fast.


Lower the rep range

try not to perform more then 10 reps. As a hard gainer you will want to recruit as much muscle fibres as possible per workout so keep the weights heavy and the reps low. You should fail to lift the 11th rep no matter how hard you try.



Stop taking breaks

To get the most out of your workout you should be training intensely and not taking lots of rest between sets. Decrease your rest time between sets, up the pace a little and watch your muscles grow bigger.



Reduce the number of exercises

Try only doing 1 exercise per muscle group and lifting as much as humanly possible for your sets and reps. By the time you finished you will be wanting to move to the next muscle group.



Keep the volume down

Aim for 3-5 sets per muscle group. Make these sets intense using 90-100% of your maximum effort to really force out the reps and gain muscle fast.



Add more weight

Every week or two add an extra 5% weight to the bar. Your body will have to adapt to this new weight and you will get stronger. As long as you keep doing this you will grow bigger and bigger.
