Muscle building and weight gain can just be as difficult for a skinny guy as losing weight can be for someone who is over weight. During my research into weightlifting and muscle building i have stumbled across several programs which have helped me gain more muscle and have given me the 101 on muscle building.

 

Anyone that has ever searched the internet with questions relating to muscle building would have come across some of the most popular program web sites. On this page i have included some of the best (but obvious) mass gaining tips that have helped me gain muscle size and strength.

Gaining mass 101 is a complete idiots guide to weight gain and muscle building. When trying to build muscle the most basic steps are often over looked. by doing this you can seriously effect your gains.

There are some important points that you need to follow if you are serious about any sort of muscle gain.

Stop labeling yourself a hard gainer
There is such a thing as hard gainer but there is no such thing as a no gainer and everyone can build muscle they just need to have a positive attitude. Sometimes calling yourself a hard gainer is just an excuse to give up.

Treat every rep as your last
Don't go to the gym and pace yourself so you only complete the set amount of reps. If you can force out another one then do it. Don't just give up because you have reached a certain number of reps, if you can do one more then do it. Don't be a wimp.

Eat calories
The general formula for this is take your bodyweight in pounds and times it by 20. This should give you the amount of calories you need to consume to gain weight, obviously its not totally accurate and amounts will vary between individuals but it's a good starting point.

Consume enough protein
You must be consuming protein in order to gain muscle. Protein is the building blocks of life and you simply cannot gain any extra muscles without it you should be consuming at least 1g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight ideally per pound of bodyweight.

If you have read the above book and tips from me then you should already have a good ideas of how you can gain muscle mass. The next step is to follow a structured training program specifically suited to YOUR body type so that the gains you make fit within your goals.


If you are a hard gainer and of naturally thin body type then chances are you are an ectomorph. Ectomorph's are the typically skinny guy who never seems to gain weight and is naturally skinny and bony.

This former skinny guy is now a muscle building coach and has developed his body in under a year and gained over 40lbs of new muscle.

This was done by following the mass gaining tips shown above, by following a sound diet and nutrition plan and by following a structured goal specific training program suited for his body type.
