A Look At Weight Lifting Equipment And What You Really Need
There are many forms of weight lifting equipment available to help you in your weight training and bodybuilding. Must of the equipment is complete rubbish and if you have ever stayed up and watched those infomercial's then you would have probably seen the gut buster 3000 or other similar piece of over hyped rubbish designed to fleece you of your hard earned cash and give you nothing more then a crap piece of plastic in return. I am going off on a slight tangent but i hate those adverts. My point is the fitness industry is a big one and there are hundreds of products and fancy gadgets all promising to be the next best thing. General bodybuilding is an inexpensive sport in the sense that you do not need alot of weight lifting equipment to get you started. If you are training at home all you really need is a bench and some dumbbells and if you train at the gym they usually have everything that you need including someone to wash your towels.(if your that lazy) As with many other sports there are a lot of 'hidden extras' which you can purchase to try and make your training more comfortable. Are they necessary? No probably not but some weight lifting equipment especially things like gloves can be very handy and actually help improve your lifts and general training experience. Here are a few basic items that you may want to consider.(click the links for more information) Weight lifting shoes Weight lifting belts Weight benches Weight lifting straps Sports clothing If you are attending the gym rather then training at home chances are you are not going to need any extra weight lifting equipment. Most gyms and fitness centre's have everything you need otherwise what would be the point in joining one. Some even have spare weight belts and things you can borrow. Don't borrow weight training gloves though as they get very sweaty and you don't want some sweaty beast to have used them before you. If you workout at home then initially you are going to need to spend a bit of money on equipment. The very basic of equipment that you are going to want is a weight bench and a set of dumbbells. Gradually as time goes on you can increase the equipment like add a barbell maybe a dip station, extra weights etc. The possibilities are endless, depending on the space you have of course. Real gains in muscle size and strength dosent come from the equipment or the latest workout gear it comes from shear intensity and a desire to change and train like a beast. Combining proper nutrition, training and supplementation you will make excellent gains without the latest weight lifting equipment or fancy piece of kit. As well as equipment to help you with the actual gym training side of things there is also a number of other items that you may want to consider. There are many good weight lifting books available and range from specific training routines to complete encyclopedias containing a wealth of weight lifting information. If reading is not your thing then a video or DVD maybe of use to help you understand how to perform the exercises correctly if you do not have a personal trainer or gym instructor to hand. Before you go out and buy any weight lifting equipment just think to yourself: Do you really need it? and Will it actually help?
