Weightlifting isn't about getting big and bulky and looking like the incredible hulk. Weight training is a great tool for toning your body and burning away that unwanted fat.

The weights that you lift don't have to be barbells and dumbbells, there are many options for you to choose from. If you do not have access to weights then you can use household objects to provide some resistance for you.


During your weight lifting workout you will burn lots of calories and because the way that the weight training stresses your muscles, this fat burning effect is continued after your workout and into the next day. Weightlifting causes your body to burn around 16% more calories then it normally would.


Hot Body Workout Circuit

The first of the weightlifting routines is the hot body circuit. A circuit involves doing a series of exercises in a row and then usually repeating them after. Circuit training is intense and is a great way to burn fat in a less time then a normal workout.

Perform all 4 exercises in a row without rest.

Rest for 3 minutes.

Repeat 3 more times.

Push Ups Complete 10 reps

Walking Lunges with Front Raise, Side Raise using 5lb Dumbbells Complete 10 reps


This workout is very effective and by the third circuit you will feel exhausted and know why this workout works. As you can see weightlifting for women doesn't have to involve using heavy weights and you can get a great workout from using just 5lb dumbbells.


Chest and Arms Exercise

Combine arm and chest training with this quick workout. All you need is a fitness ball and dumbbells and you have a great workout for toning your body.
